If you haven’t been before this is an opportunity to dance in probably the best dance venue in the South of England. An Art Deco setting on a real Dance Floor. Virtually every event is a sell out with 300 dancers.

Continuous dancing 8 til midnight, DJ will be Allan Turner Ward who has been our DJ before and was extremely popular. I know many of you follow his podcast https://player.autopod.xyz/130774 or have heard him on local radio. He knows the kind of music we like and will be making sure that that’s what we get. He’s also very open to requests either in advance or on the night.

A bar and water (20p for first glass then continuous free refills) This Dance is big, it attracts dancers from across the south and brings together dancers from a wide variety of settings so you’re always likely to see people that you haven’t seen for a while. I try hard not to clash with regular jive providers and weekend events. Always a great atmospere and one or two fun dances, eg mystery dancer and a stroll (line dance) so as to encourage mixing.

Buying Tickets

Tickets will be £15 booked in advance which you can cancel for a full refund up to a week before the event. I’ve only put the price up because the Pavilion have increased their charges and have warned me that there may be a supplement on what they’ve charged me already.

Please, if you can, buy online, there are NO additional charges to you it just makes it more manageable for me. But if you can’t then text or email me I don’t want you not to come!

Please go to the TICKETS page to purchase tickets, if purchasing for friends please include their names when making the purchase online.

Tickets Refunds

A full refund is available up to 7 days before the event you have purchased. Please email jjrynne@gmail.com for a refund.

Go Green! In order to make some small contribution to the awful problem of climate change, we are encouraging people to consider sharing transport. When booking you will be given the opportunity to indicate if you would be open to your contact, email or mobile, being shared with someone who lives near you. ONLY if you wish you can then link up to car share. This was used by some at the last event.

Silent Raffle

On the night a small group are running a silent raffle to raise additional funds for Citizen Advice. We are hoping to have sponsorship from Barclays Bank, if this succeeds they will increase our profits for the charity by 50%! If you would like to contribute a prize bring it along on the night or please email me and I will pass the information on to them.

Covid safe

Given the current Covid situation, and that we’re talking about three months away, I anticipate that there won’t be any Covid entry requirements. If there are we will be accepting proof of booster vaccination OR a lateral flow test done on the day.

BUT don’t ask me now! we’ll wait until nearer the time and see what pertains then. It might even feel like we’re getting back to normal.

I know the cost of parking in Bournemouth puts people off, BUT there is FREE parking along the clifftop after 8pm that’s BH1 3AA It’s a five-minute walk, I’ve done it.

Cheaper Parking is available at Central car park, Upper Hinton Road, Bournemouth, BH1 2HH. £5 for all evening. Four minutes walk from the Pavilion.

A worthy cause. Proceeds go to Citizens Advice – Registered Charity

All the jives organised by me are in my role as a member of The Friends of East Dorset Citizens Advice. This is a registered charity, no profit is made or taken by me and I am accountable to the Friends committee and ultimately to the Board of trustees. My role is entirely voluntary.

I think Citizens Advice is a great service. All it does is help people to access their legal rights which otherwise, through lack of knowledge, they might be denied or cheated out of.

The dances that I organise, generally three a year, give me a chance to combine my wish to support the Citizens Advice Service together with wanting to keep Jivers dancing in the wonderful setting of the Bournemouth Pavilion Ballroom. As far as I know it’s the only location, in the south, where we dance in an actual Ballroom! The groundswell of support that these events have generated, seems to indicate that it’s what people want too, virtually everyone one is sold out..

We have a friendly Facebook Group, where you can hear about our upcoming events and connect with fellow dancers. Come and join in the fun!
